Welding
This course is designed to enable trainees to develop entry-level knowledge and skills for employment. Welding instruction consists of Oxy-fuel, Braze, GMAW, SMAW, GTAW, FCAW, and PAC cutting. Students will have the opportunity to use power and hand tools and will be exposed to the use of a plasma table and CAD. Welding skills will prepare students in blueprint reading and math. Safety skills are stressed throughout the program. The National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) developed the curriculum used in Welding. Students will take the NCCER National Certification Test. This program is a pathway for students in the Manufacturing Career Cluster. Students will receive elective credits.
State Prerequisites
- C or higher in English (the previous year)
- C or higher in Math (last course taken or the instructor can specify the math)
- CTE Instructor and Administrative approval
