SkillsUSA

Students enrolled in Architecture and Drafting, Collision Repair, Automotive Service Technology, Information Technology and Welding are eligible to join SkillsUSA. SkillsUSA programs include local, state, and national competitions in which students demonstrate occupational and leadership skills. This national organization prepares America’s high performance workers. It provides quality education experiences for students in leadership, teamwork, citizenship, and character development. It builds and reinforces self-confidence, work attitudes and communication skills. It emphasizes total quality at work, high ethical standards, superior work skills, life-long education and pride in the dignity of work. SkillsUSA also promotes the understanding of the free enterprise system and involvement in community service activities.

SkillsUSA empowers its members to become world-class workers, leaders and responsible American citizens. SkillsUSA improves the quality of our nation's future skilled workforce through the development of Framework skills that include personal, workplace and technical skills grounded in academics.

SkillsUSA serves more than 360,000 students and instructors annually. This includes 20,926 instructors who join as professional members. Including alumni, SkillsUSA membership totals over 400,000. SkillsUSA has served more than 13.5 million annual members cumulatively since 1965.

The SkillsUSA students at the Jones County Career Tech competed at the SkillsUSA State Championship on April 2-4, 2024. Karla Garcia, Mathew Defreese, and Jadon White competed in the Promotional Bulletin Board. Richard Bufkin competed in the Architectural Drafting and placed 3rd. We are very proud of these students.
