Fire Department Visit

On September 29, 2026 and October 1, 2026, Laurel Firefighters presented a fire safety program to all of the students at the Jones County Career Technical Center. The program began with thefirefighters presenting guidelines about fire safety and sharing work-related experiences with the students. The presentation included an explanation of the PASS (Pull, Aim, Squeeze, and Sweep) system for fire extinguisher use that students learn about in career technical programs. The presentation continued outside as the firefighters demonstrated fire extinguisher use. Students followed the PASS system procedure to use the fire extinguishers. Knowledge about fire safety is important to students taking Culinary Arts, Architecture and Drafting, Industrial Maintenance, Health Science, Welding, Automotive Services, Information Technology and Work-Based Learning programs at the center. The Jones County Career Technical Center’s Director is Mr. Jonathan Robertson. The center is located in Laurel at 2409 Moose Drive. The programs at the center are available to 10 th -12 th grade students in the Jones County School District.
